The SAES “READING WITHOUT WALLS”
Summer Reading Challenge
Middle Schoolers: Please check back mid July when the rest of summer work will be released
In 2016, then National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, Gene Luen Yang, issued a challenge:
"I want every kid — every reader, really — to explore the world through books.
I challenge you to READ WITHOUT WALLS in three ways:
JUNE: 1. Read books about characters who don't look like you or live like you.
JULY: 2. Read books about topics you don’t know much about.
AUGUST: 3. Read books in formats that you don’t normally read for fun. This could be chapter books, graphic novels, books in verse, or picture books.
