An independent school in Middletown, DE for students in Preschool through Grade 8

Dress Code

The St. Anne's Episcopal School dress code is a symbol of our community and values, signaling everyone’s equal stature. Appropriate dress establishes a productive tone and minimizes distractions within the learning environment. On an as-needed basis, each Division Head may make modifications as weather or other circumstances require.

Students should always attend school in clothes that are neat, clean, and in good repair. Common sense, along with adherence to our core values of respect, responsibility, and compassion, should dictate parental and student choice of school clothes. SAES students are expected to accept this responsibility, and the school depends upon the cooperation of the entire school community in adhering to the spirit of this code.

The SAES Dress Code includes enough flexibility that students can dress for any weather. Families should keep in mind that some classes may meet outside, and as a result, students should come to school prepared to do work both indoors and outdoors, depending on the teacher/class.

We ask that students refrain from wearing items that distract from the learning environment. Any clothing displaying logos, labels, and phrases of any kind are not permitted. Hats/caps as well as Tube tops, halter-tops, spaghetti straps, or dresses with similar tops are not permitted.

Interpretation of these rules allows for some individuality of expression, but students should dress respectfully for school.

Branded clothing can be purchased from Tommy Hilfiger, Land’s End (use Preferred School Number 900074451).
