8th Grade Cellular Projects

Eighth graders were recently tasked with displaying their knowledge of cellular structures in unique ways.  The variety of methods students chose included poem, song, model, review game, computer program, and comic strip.

Most commonly selected this year was the song option - eight students chose to write and perform an original song detailing cell organelles and their functions.  Some created music videos, others brought their ukuleles to class to perform live!  While watching their classmates' perform, students ate the cell models made of cake/brownies that others created and later played the variety of review games created, such as cell charades, cell operation and cellular pursuit.

Said one student of this project, "It was really cool to combine creativity and learning."  Said another, "I have my whole song memorized now, so I remember the functions of all the cell parts easily!"

If you'd like to see for yourself, visit the remaining display of projects at the end of the middle school hall.
