Our alumni go on to play interscholastic sports in lots of different high schools, and this week the stories from St. Andrew’s were noteworthy.
It felt like alumni day at the St. Andrew's - Sanford soccer matches yesterday where there were nine former Herons playing in either the Varsity or JV matches. St. Andrew's won both games but it was great to see Logan Cameron ('16) Ethan Paradee ('16), and Zach Tull ('16) all together on the same varsity team competing against Zach Bovelsky ('17) of Sanford. In the JV match, Noah Hollander ('17) and Tayg Murray ('17) represented Sanford, while Tyler and Caden Wood ('17) were playing attack for St. Andrew's. Two former Heron's who moved away before graduation were also on the field: Rick Townsend ('14) and Theo Taylor ('17) for SAS.
Prior to yesterday’s game, the Saints varsity soccer team continued their winning ways last Thursday afternoon, taking down conference opponent Wilmington Friends by a score of 3-0 and improving their record to an impressive 8-0. The scoring started in the 30th minute, as Zach Tull (SAES '14) headed the ball into the back of the net off a nice assist from teammate Jamie Rowley. In the second half, Robbie Turnbull got on the board after finishing off an assist from Ethan Paradee (SAES '16), his first career assist.
Also, St. Andrew's girls' field hockey won their home game against Sanford this week to improve to 2-2-1 in conference play. After a scoreless first half, St. Andrew's found the back of the goal cage off of a nice assist from Captain Alex Cameron (SAES ’14) with 16 minutes left to play. This lone goal was all the Saints needed, as they posted the fourth shutout for the Saints this year. (see photo)
In addition, Bryer Wood (SAES '17) is one of the top runners for the highly ranked St. Andrew's Cross Country team. (see photo)
