We welcome Mrs. Pam Kern to St. Anne’s this fall as our new Director of Athletics, PE instructor, and field hockey coach. Mrs. Kern graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Physical Education from UD and has 30 years of experience teaching PE in public schools.  Why is she leaving retirement to return to the classroom?

“I was ready to get back to school;, I missed the kids terribly,” she explained.  “I’ve always been involved with sports as a teacher and a coach and I was ready for a new challenge. I'm excited to join the team at St. Anne's and to help inspire students to pursue a lifetime of fitness-related activities and healthy decisions.”

Coach Kern helped to start the Youth Girls’ Lacrosse Program in Middletown several years ago and comes to St. Anne’s highly recommended by her peers, supervisors, and St. Anne’s alumnae she coached in lacrosse.  She was voted PE Teacher of the Year in the State of Delaware in 1993 and Person of the Year for the Delaware Lacrosse Foundation in 2015.

Mrs. Kern will serve as Director of Athletics and teach PE to Grades 1-5 while Mr. James Hester will teach PE in PreSchool, PreK, Kindergarten, 4th grade and Grades 6-8 in addition to teaching middle school health.  This fall, Mrs. Kern will also be Coach Kern as she coaches our girls’ field hockey team.

If you see Coach Kern please take a moment to introduce yourself and welcome her to our community!
