Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

Be an Ally!

At St. Anne's we seek to create an environment in which differences are recognized, honored, and celebrated.

Our vision is to be a model school where talented and compassionate teachers ensure that our children are known, loved, challenged and inspired.

Our curriculum encourages students to see diversity as a source of strength, equity as a source of sustainability, and inclusion as a source of solutions to prepare children to succeed in an increasingly multicultural world.

DEI aligns closely with our core values of respect, responsibility, and compassion, and supports our mission to enhance the intellectual, spiritual, and social growth of our students so that they may realize their potential for good as citizens of local and world communities.

What do Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion look like?

Thanks to the support of generous donors, St. Anne’s students, faculty and staff are bringing new awareness and activities to the school.  In 2018-2019 we started affinity groups, sent nine middle school students to the Student Diversity Leadership Conference and eight faculty members to the People of Color Conference, and started "One Book, One School, One Mission" program to connect our students, teachers, and families through literature.

As  St. Anne’s  Director of Diversity and Inclusion Amy Shepherd explains,  “St. Anne’s has a great deal of energy and momentum going in our efforts to be the most inclusive and welcoming community that we can be.  I am excited for what we can do together.”

However, there is so much more we could be doing.  We need your help!

You and your gift can:

  • Purchase new books, visuals, curricula, and toys that are multicultural and support a global education in every classroom and throughout the day.
  • Send the entire 6th grade and their teachers to the empowering Student Diversity Leadership Conference next fall.
  • Continue the important professional development our faculty and staff seek.

Our wonderful faculty need teaching materials that reflect the student members in their classes as well as the rich diversity of the world.

Even small gifts make a difference.

Every student will benefit from your generosity.

The best schools and universities work hard to create diverse classrooms for this single purpose--to make ourselves better and our world a better place. Continual efforts made at St Anne's to be a school that honors different backgrounds and experiences puts us in the company of great schools making a difference.
