An independent school in Middletown, DE for students in Preschool through Grade 8

Heron Health Pledge

Keeping our community safe and healthy is a collective effort, one we are asking everyone to support. We hold respect, responsibility, and compassion as core values of the school community. These values will be at the heart of our efforts to maintain a healthy community this school year.

By sending their children to SAES for on-campus learning, families in the community commit to the following:

• We will assess our child(ren) daily at home before arriving to school to make sure they are well and able to attend school.   We will keep child(ren) home if not feeling well, even if overly cautious.

• We will keep our child(ren) home and notify the Health Office if they, others in our household, or someone very close to our child (babysitter, extended family, etc.) is exposed to, or tests positive for, COVID-19.

• We permit the school to administer a temperature check or other appropriate medical assessment when necessary.

• In the event our child(ren) show(s) symptoms of illness, we will promptly pick them up from school to go home, or arrange for an emergency contact to do so.

• We will practice healthy behaviors and self-control outside of school, including regular hand-washing, social distancing, when possible, around large groups of people, and maintaining good personal hygiene. We know that our family’s activities outside of school could put other SAES community members at risk.

• We will keep medical information for our child(ren) current with the school.

• We will respect the community’s efforts to ensure individual privacy and refrain from communicating or speculating about others’ personal health information.

With shared responsibility and cooperation, we can minimize risk and work to maintain a healthy environment for students, faculty, staff, and families.
