Dear St. Anne's Families,
Due to forecasted inclement weather, Thursday February, 18th will be a virtual learning day for our on-campus learners. Please read on for more information.
One of the tasks that every new Head of School looks forward to is the official calling of the first snow day. What better way to ingratiate yourself to new colleagues and students than to give them an unscheduled day off! And who of us doesn't love a good snow day?! As it turned out, I never had the opportunity to make such a call last year but this current year has made up for it and brought me back to my days as a college student in frigid northern New York in the process.
We have had four snow days so far this year with a very good possibility of an additional storm arriving tomorrow and extending into Friday. We are concerned that this continued time away may inhibit the ability of our teachers and students to get into a consistent learning flow. During our in-service time this past Friday, our faculty spent time on fine-tuning short-term virtual learning plans, specifically to be used for additional snow days or other events that would close campus for more than one day. Rather than wait for the snow to fly, we are pivoting to our short-term virtual plan now in preparation for tomorrow.
Your child's homeroom teacher will be reaching out to you with a grade level specific plan.
NOTE: Our students who are participating in our Distant Learning program will maintain their normal schedule.
This is not to say that we will no longer have our traditional snow days; that is, one whereby the learning community has the day "off" from school work. However, we feel at this time it is best to make up for some of the academic time that has been missed and we will continue to look to add in school time when and where appropriate. We encourage all our students to participate as they can.
As always, we are committed to providing the best possible educational experience to our students. At times we may have to reevaluate and adjust the plan, however, the goal of high academic achievement remains the same. Thank you for your flexibility and continued support.
