Dear Heron Families, Faculty and Staff,
As we see the number of coronavirus cases nationwide continue to grow, I'm writing with a brief update and a reminder to please be vigilant and safe during the break.
Delaware is one of a handful of states in which more people are hospitalized with Covid-19 than at any other point in this pandemic. Our state has also seen an increase in overall positive cases during the last weeks. Health professionals point to Thanksgiving travel and gatherings as a catalyst.
Here at St. Anne's, we have also experienced our own surge in positive cases. In the last several days, we have heard of seven reported cases among students and faculty which is more than we had experienced during the first 16 weeks combined. We ask that you exercise caution over the break and continue to practice safety protocols so that we can all remain healthy and return to school safely.
If you child has been in close contact with a positive case, the DPH will be contacting you with a phone call.
The holidays are about celebrating the Christmas season with family and friends. The fact that our children may not be able to gather with cousins, friends, grandparents is heartbreaking. Traditions may need to be postponed. We know that predictability is so very important for our children and these days, and currently, the only thing predictable is unpredictability.
If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to me. If your children are feeling anxious or worried, let me know so that St. Anne's can provide support for your family.
As mentioned in my communication from Friday, we will be in touch at the beginning of next week, with more information regarding the return to campus in 2021. In the meantime, please use the break to slow down and relax.
Your families are in my prayers this holiday season.
In Partnership,
Barry |
