SAES families:
Take a breath! You did it! You all made it through the first day of School. I hope you and your child(ren) enjoyed getting back to familiar routines and reconnecting with friends and teachers as much as we did. A few notes of follow up at the end of a great first day:
- Thank you for your cooperation and participation with our online screening tool, RUVNA. We realize there are several families who did not receive the email or text and we are working diligently to make sure we have all of the information on our side to make the system work. In the meantime, if you do not receive the screening every morning, please continue to reach out to Matt Goetting at mgoetting@stannesde.org and he will work with you to complete the screening manually. We appreciate your commitment to this process.
- As was the case this morning, we ask that you stop at the end of the driveway, prior to entering the circle where either Mrs. White, another adult helper, or I will take your child(ren)'s temperature. A gentle reminder to ensure that all parties in the car are masked.
- Once temperatures have been taken, we ask that you continue on into the circle and pull all the way to the front of the circle, even if there is no one behind you. We realize this means your MS child may need to walk back towards the MS entrance.
- Please stay in a single file car line as we work to get your children into the building safely. Please do not pull around another car unless directed to do so. Thank you!
- Please place your carline card in the passenger side front dashboard as that helps us easily identify which entrance you will use.
- Thank you for your patience at the end of the day as we got a bit of a late start as the end of day routines are just being established in homerooms.
Two other reminders as we begin the school year. As you know, we are not allowing visitors into the building for the foreseeable future. If you are dropping off after the carline is complete, our receptionist, Tayler John, will take your child's temperature and then escort him/her to the respective classroom. If you are picking up your child early,Tayler will ask you to wait in our main vestibule and she will arrange for your child to come to meet you. If you need to meet with a member of our faculty or staff, we are requesting that you do this by appointment only at this time. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. We look forward to a future time when we will be able to welcome parents and guests into the building again.
You may have noticed the presence of the MIddletown Police Department on campus this morning, which is part of their commitment to be a regular presence here as we look to be outdoors as much as possible. We have also hired a full-time security officer who will be a presence on campus and further ensure the safety of our adults and students as we spread out around campus.
We would also like to make you aware of recent development in our extended care program. While we had initially planned to have the Middletown YMCA manage our extended care program for our K-8th grade students, we recently made the decision to keep this service managed in house. This allows us to best adhere to our COVID-19 protocols. If you are interested in utilizing this service, please reach out to Valerie White, Director of Enrollment & Community Outreach. All parents who pre-registered for extended care were contacted about this change and the protocols that will be in place. For students in Preschool, Pre-K and Kindergarten, Renee Chaudoin is our lead contact for extended care programming.
Finally, a note to our Middle School families. You asked, we listened. On MS PE days, your children can wear PE clothes to school instead of their uniform!
Thank you again for a fantastic first day. And, welcome home!
Regards,
