Dear St. Anne's families: We are writing with information about our arrival and dismissal protocols for the first day and the foreseeable future. - We have created a map that includes detailed instructions for arrival and drop-off that you can find here.
- In this map, you will see mention of the RUVNA self-screening tool. Per CDC guidance, it is important that we monitor the possible symptoms of COVID-19 and history of any exposure in and out of school with both students as well as faculty/staff. As such, we will use this daily symptom tracking tool. Parents/guardians of students and each faculty/staff member will complete a digital health monitoring assessment from their own devices before reaching school in the morning. This process will take less than one minute and does not require you to download any app. You will complete the screening and all students and employees will receive the "all clear" to come to school or to stay home and follow up with the school nurse. There will be no need to show the barcode upon arrival. Our plan as of now is to start with the screening on Wednesday morning.
- More information about RUVNA can be found here. All parents/guardians with up-to-date contact information on file with us will receive the assessment. You can change your information at any time by logging in to the Rediker Parent Portal.
- Per the recommendation of our Safety Task Force, upon arrival to school, all students will have their temperature taken by designated administrators. A temperature of 100.0 degrees is likely to result in a return to home for your child. We will reevaluate this temperature taking protocol in the coming weeks. From the CDC: "fever is common in many other illnesses, and temperatures can be taken improperly and falsely interpreted as fever." We have a relatively small number of students to check but will assess the time it takes in the morning once we have lived with this for a bit. The American Academy of Pediatrics writes:
"School policies regarding temperature screening and temperature checks must balance the practicality of performing these screening procedures for large numbers of students and staff with the information known about how children manifest and transmit COVID-19 infection, the risk of transmission in schools, and the possible lost instructional time to conduct the screenings". - An isolation area in the expanded nurses office has been identified for the assessment of students or faculty/staff who show signs or complain of illness. Anyone presenting with suspected COVID-19 symptoms will remain in the isolated are until they can be picked up.
- Finally, we have created a social story to help your children learn about how the school day will look different from last year. The story uses child-friendly language and familiar images to explain new procedures and expectations. Before the first day, please read and review the story with your child(ren) and allow for time for them to process and ask questions. Our teachers will also use the story on the first day to encourage consistency and standards. The social story also provides a resource to revisit as a student needs reassurance in the days and weeks ahead.
We know that the first day of school has always been a time to get a picture in front of our iconic red doors. While that won't be possible this year, we are working with the St. Anne's Parent Association to allow families to take a "first day red door picture" at a designated time on Monday or Tuesday. Please look at our family facebook page for more information. The arrival on Wednesday morning will look a bit different than previous first days of school, but we are as excited and ready as ever to see our students! Thank you for your faith and belief in St. Anne's and (in advance) for your patience Wednesday morning! |
