Dear FIRSTNAME,

I want to share with all of our parents the recent news that second-grade teacher, Beth Bell, has learned the discouraging news from her doctors that she will need to have back surgery to repair a herniation in her lower lumbar region.  The earliest the surgery could be scheduled is in mid-September, and the recovery time could range anywhere from 4 - 6 weeks. As you can imagine, this is very difficult for Mrs. Bell because she cares so deeply for her students and she really wanted to be with them to start their year.

Considering several staffing options at this time and seeking to provide the best possible experience for the children, we have asked Melissa Meier to shift from her role as co-teacher in 1st grade to become the interim lead teacher until Mrs. Bell is able to return. With many years of teaching experience at several different grade levels, Mrs. Meier will be an excellent fit.  She has already begun preparing her room to welcome the 12 second graders in the class.  Mrs. Russell has been helping Mrs. Meier to plan for the opening and second-grade associate Stephanie Kepplinger, herself an experienced teacher, will be a great asset as well.

We have begun to identify an associate teacher to assist Mrs. Liguori in the mornings and we will let the first grade families know as soon as that search is completed.

Please keep Mrs. Bell and her caregivers in your thoughts and prayers as we wish her a full recovery so that she can be back with us soon.

Sincerely,

Peter Thayer
