An independent school in Middletown, DE for students in Preschool through Grade 8

Chorus

Singing is an integral part of music education throughout our programs. While our students sing in music class, concerts, and chapel, we also have separate chorus groups for the third grade, fourth grade, and Middle School (grades 5-8).

Starting in fifth grade, the Middle School Chorus is an elective which students may choose in addition to music class.  This group meets weekly and focuses on preparing a varied repertoire of music for our Christmas and Spring concerts.  In rehearsals, students work on proper singing technique.  This includes posture, breath support, pure vowel sounds, consonant enunciation, and phrasing.  Students also learn and sing the Solfege Syllables (Do, Re, Mi…) for the diatonic scale.  This extends into learning how to read the music that is presented to them.

Several of Saint Anne’s chorus members have represented the school at Delaware Junior All-State Chorus including Allaire Berl (2018), Emelie Cummins (2020), Elsbeth Daly (2020), Sean Ellis (2016), Brooke Hollander (2016), Zoey Honzel (2020), Ayanah Jones (2016), Katerina Kourpas (2016), and Julianna Shepherd (2019).
