The Significance of Our Red Doors

An Invitation to Belonging, Growth, and Grace.

At the entrance of St. Anne’s Episcopal School, a plaque commemorates the vision of our founders and the growth of our community since 2002. It concludes with a blessing that echoes our purpose:

“May all who enter these doors grow in wisdom and love."

A Sacred Tradition

In the Episcopal tradition, red doors have long symbolized sanctuary—a sacred threshold of welcome, safety, and peace. Painted in that spirit, the red doors of St. Anne’s are more than an architectural feature. They are a sign of radical hospitality, spiritual refuge, and loving community.

They remind us that every child, every family, and every member of our community is welcomed as a beloved child of God.

A Place of Welcome and Wonder

When students cross through our red doors each morning, they are not just entering a school, they are stepping into a place where they are known, loved, and inspired.

Here, academic excellence is rooted in spiritual purpose, and every child is nurtured in mind, body, and spirit. Our Episcopal identity calls us to cultivate compassion, curiosity, respect, and joy from Preschool through 8th grade.

At St. Anne’s, growing in wisdom means learning to lead with both intellect and empathy.
Growing in love means seeing and honoring the dignity of every person.

Through These Doors, We Become

Our red doors open to:

  • Joyful learning in classrooms and nature

  • Daily practices of gratitude, reflection, and service

  • A diverse and inclusive community that celebrates each child’s unique gifts

  • Moments of challenge, growth, and transformation—together

Through our shared life of study, chapel, service learning, and community, we help children become not only capable scholars but also courageous leaders and kind neighbors. Our mission is rooted in faith, shaped by love, and lived out every day on both sides of the red doors.

May all who enter here continue to grow in wisdom, in wonder, and in love.
