Do you have fond memories of book reports and grammar exercises? Middle Schoolers are trying some new approaches this year!
To share their summer reading, middle schoolers tried “book tasting.” Students shared their summer reading with small groups of their peers in tabletop discussions while munching on a few cookies. Each presented plot highlights and major themes/morals of the book they had chosen to read this summer while getting “a taste" for other works of fiction that they might find interesting. Mrs. Bromley took a few photos of her seventh graders:
Mrs. Bromley also photographed her eighth graders having some fun with grammar. In "Around the Room with Parts of Speech" students had 100 different words to match to different parts of speech. The goal was to complete the exercise in under 5 minutes! Both classes finished in under six minutes; the section pictured did so with only one mistake.
