An independent school in Middletown, DE for students in Preschool through Grade 8

Heron Health Pledge

Keeping our community safe and healthy is a collective effort, one we are asking everyone to support. We hold respect, responsibility, and compassion as core values of the school community. These values will be at the heart of our efforts to maintain a healthy community this school year.

By sending their children to SAES for on-campus learning, families in the community commit to the following: • We will complete a daily screening for each child using the Ruvna app prior to arriving on campus. We understand that doing so honestly is essential for our community’s health.

• We will keep our child(ren) home and notify the school if they, others in our household, or someone very close to our child (babysitter, extended family, etc.) is exposed to, or tests positive for, COVID-19.

• We permit the school to administer a temperature check or other appropriate medical assessment when necessary. • In the event our child(ren) show(s) symptoms of illness, we will promptly pick them up from school to go home, or arrange for an emergency contact to do so.

• We will provide our child(ren) with an approved face covering every day, knowing that they cannot enter campus without one.

• We will practice healthy behaviors and self-control outside of school, including regular handwashing, the use of face coverings, social distancing, and limiting in-person interactions with others whenever possible. We know that our family’s activities outside of school could put other SAES community members at risk.

• We will keep medical information for our child(ren) current with the school.

• We will respect Delaware travel advisories, including those requiring individuals traveling here from specific places to quarantine for a period.

• We will respect the community’s efforts to ensure individual privacy and refrain from communicating or speculating about others’ personal health information, including when members of the community test positive for COVID-19.

• Recognizing the stressful nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and its outcomes, we will consistently show kindness and courtesy in our interactions with others. With shared responsibility and cooperation, we can minimize risk and work to maintain a healthy environment for students, faculty, staff, and families.
